We are publishing our novel using CreateSpace. In order to increase our royalties, I would like to set up an e-Store, but haven't been able to find anything on the CS website that tells me how to accomplish this. Appreciate any tips, etc...
When your title is ready you will be given an estore. If you click on your title (the books name) in your my account area you will be able to edit the estore i.e. add a banner, change background images and font colour. Here are three examples of my estores. Please feel free to buy copies
If you're selling from your own website, I wouldn't (and don't). People know and generally trust Amazon, so it makes sense to provide that link as a buying alternative on your site (for people who may not know or trust you). Most people don't know CreateSpace, however -- so it has no more credibility than your own site in most cases, and you have only limited control over how it looks. I'd only offer the option to buy from you or Amazon.
The exceptions might be if you want to implement and use discount codes without having to manage them yourself, and/or if you don't want to mess with fulfilling book orders. Personally, I think the extra profit you make on selling them yourself is worth the trouble, but not everyone would agree.
Hope that helps. Good luck.
I provide both, but nudge people to the estore. Better royalty there! but, yeah, more people know Amazon. The discount code is a good thing as it does get more people to look at oyur site to get the code.
I just published my first book with CS, TEXAS HOLD 'EM POKER TEXTBOOK
The eStore website is https://www.createspace.com/3486256
The steps to set up the eStore are as follows:
1. Go to MyAccount and click on the title of the book.
2. On the new page go to the 4th panel and click on Sales Information.
3. On the next new page fill in the different boxes and check marks appropriate
for the book. Then click on Save and Continue at the bottom of the page.
4. On the next new page enter the price of the book. And most important, click
Edit in the CreateSpace eStore panel. When that panel opens, click on
Customize Your eStore.
5. A new page opens with the URL (web location of your eStore) and places to
add features. Such as, a banner, Continue Shopping URL,
Continue Shopping Text, colors for the background, the headline, the text and
links. This is where you make it your own. You should most certainly create
an image for the banner. In the Continue Shopping URL box, I put the link to
my website promoting the book: http://www.poker-textbook.com and in the
Continue Shopping Text box, I put a description of what to expect at that
site: More info. about the book - contents, sample pages, etc.
6. At the bottom of this page be sure to click on Save Changes, and then click
Complete on the next page that comes up. You can return to the page in
step 5 and click on your URL to view your work. It can all be modified or
edited again if needed.
My question is, how can you get your other titles to show when you're on a page for a specific title? As an estore, I'd like to have all our stuff visible, then click through to the selection(s) you want. How does that work?
Thx! New here!
As far as I know each title has its own URL.
That is, an address, such as, https://www.createspace.com/3486256.
The seven digit number at the end is unique for each book.
The only way to publically show all your titles in one place is to create
a website and have links from there to each eStore address.
I think there is a section of CreateSpace called CreateSpace Direct
that is set up for resellers and perhaps they have some kind of
access to all of the CreateSpace titles. Maybe someone else
has knowledge of this and can respond.
Okay, thanks. I think I'm starting to get this now...the "e-store" they talk about is a per-title store and it actually lives on createspace.com, but it is co-listed at amazon.com, yes? That's why we get more $ if orders come in through here vs. amazon?
We have a website, so that's what I'll do. Make a storefront there.
Is there a way to put advertisements for our own stuff on a title's page so people can find our other stuff? Can you use HTML or put it as a background image or something? Does anyone have any experience with this? We will be bringing up a dozen titles or so over the next many months, and definitely want people to be able to go from one to another through createspace without always having to navigate back to our home web site if possible.
Thank you in advance! Newbie here!
I've heard of CreateSpace Direct but I've never used it.
Your book should also show up at Amazon. There will
not be a link back to your eStore, however.
As for your own website, you can do pretty much what
you want, if not doing it by yourself, you can seek out
help from other members at this community. I think your
customers will have to hit the back button to get back to
your own website or you can put a link on your eStore,
where they have a spot for "Continue Shopping URL",
In my case,In the Continue Shopping URL box, I put the link to
my website promoting my book: http://www.poker-textbook.com
and in the Continue Shopping Text box, I put a description of
what to expect at there, basically, more info. about the book
- contents, sample pages, etc.
Check out my post in this thread on Nov. 15. Hope this helps.
